On relation of the Conditional Moment Closure and unsteady Flamelets

چکیده

We consider the relation of the Conditional Moment Closure (CMC) and the unsteady Flamelet Model (FM). The CMC equations were originally constructed as global equations while FM was asymptotically derived for a thin reaction zone. The recent tendency is to use FM-type equations as global equations. We investigate the possible consequences and suggest a new version of FM – Coordinate-Invariant FM (CIFM). Unlike FM, CIFM complies with conditional properties of the exact transport equations which are effectively used in CMC. We analyse the assumptions needed to obtain another global version of FM – Representative Interactive Flamelets (RIF) – from original FM and demonstrate that, in homogeneous turbulence, one of these assumptions is equivalent to the main CMC hypothesis. †Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, the University of Queensland, Qld 4072, Australia

Film cooling effectiveness in single row of holes: First moment closure modeling

The present article focuses on the evaluation of a first-moment closure model applicable to film cooling flow and heat transfer computations. The present first-moment closure model consists of a higher level of turbulent heat flux modeling in which two additional transport equations for temperature variance kθ and its dissipation rate εθ are ...

Effects of Valve Closing Law and Unsteady Friction Model on Damping Pressure Waves in a Network

Water-hammer is a transient condition which may occur in a network as a result of rapid or slow valve closures, pump failures, changes in turbine loading, etc. It creates high and low pressure waves which travel along the system and decay as a result of wall shear stress. Comparison o experimental and theoretical results revealed the failure of steady or quasi-steady models in correctly predict...

Studies on non-premixed flame streets in a mesoscale channel

The effects of channel width, wall temperature, and flow rate on the dynamics of non-premix flames in a mesoscale combustor were studied in methane and propane–air mixing layers. A flame street structure which consists of multiple triple flamelets in the mixing layer of the reactants was observed experimentally for the first time. Depending on the flow rate, it was found that there are two diff...

A Preferred Definition of Conditional Rényi Entropy

The Rényi entropy is a generalization of Shannon entropy to a one-parameter family of entropies. Tsallis entropy too is a generalization of Shannon entropy. The measure for Tsallis entropy is non-logarithmic. After the introduction of Shannon entropy , the conditional Shannon entropy was derived and its properties became known. Also, for Tsallis entropy, the conditional entropy was introduced a...
